Designing with CSS
I recently purchased the online video of Andy Clarkes DVD, Designing with CSS, part of his For a beautiful web series.
I’m already an advocate of designing in the browser so I knew this DVD wasn’t going to alter the way I work too much but it did throw up some interesting ideas. I especially liked the idea of organising content in a word processor and making notes on its hierarchy.
More than anything this DVD provides an insight into how Andy works himself which of course is inspiring. Seeing how a designer you respect and have learned a lot from works really motivates me to get even better at what I do, especially when I already do a great deal of what he talked about in the DVD.
I recommend this DVD to anyone who knows HTML and CSS but maybe hasn’t established an effective work flow yet. I also recommend this DVD if you’re stuck in the mindset that you need to present clients with static photoshop comps.
