Design is not decoration

On the web today you will encounter some amazingly beautiful websites. The talent and discipline that goes into this work is not to be dismissed however does it count as design? Not always.

There is no point simply adding flourishes and ornaments to a page just to fill space under the guise of enhancing the content. Every bit of decoration we add to a design must have meaning and a reason for being there.
