About me

Hi, my name is Steve Rydz and I’m a web designer, front-end developer and WordPress wrangler currently based in London, UK.

I have been doing this professionally since 2009 however my roots can be traced back as far as 1997, where I learned the basics of HTML from my I.T. teacher at school.

Once I left school I embarked on a career in music, doing whatever jobs I could get to supplement my musical income (which wasn’t very much). In 2007, after becoming frustrated with the limitations of MySpace, I decided to set about creating my own website.

HTML came easily to me as I already understood it’s foundations but I also became fascinated with CSS and designing for the web. I spent every spare minute reading, working through tutorials and working towards becoming a web design professional.

By 2009 I was good enough that friends and family members started to ask me to help them with their web related projects. Over the next couple of years I built a modest design portfolio whilst also working with local design agencies doing front-end development and WordPress integration.

In 2011 I moved to London and began to work as a front-end developer for First*Clarity, based in Holborn. Here, I learned a lot about the agile development methodology, particularly scrum, and had the opportunity to develop my coding skills.

When not officially working, I spend a lot of time keeping up with the latest technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, LESS, Responsive Web Design and maintaining my blog, sharing my knowledge and experiences.

But then, all work and no play doesn’t make for a healthy, balanced lifestyle and I try to step away from the screen long enough to go for long walks through various North London parks, dine at some lovely vegetarian restaurants and see as much live music and comedy as I can, all with my much treasured wife, Charlotte.
