  1. Simple things with jQuery: Scroll to top

I’m toying with starting a little series on this blog called Simple things with jQuery. Essentially, this is because I see so many sites on the web using full-blown jQuery plugins for simple things. What I plan to do is, as I come across these things, try to find a simpler way to do things and then blog about it. First up, the good old scroll to top link.

  2. My Favourite 5 Books

Following on from Mike Streets article, I have compiled a list of my five favourite books, or more accurately, five books that have really stood out to me as a designer.

  3. Colour theory with LESS

Unless you’v been living under a rock for the past few months, you will be aware of CSS pre-processors such as SASS and LESS. LESS is of course, my preference here and I would like to share how you can use it to create colour palettes for your design work.

Whilst contemplating the ongoing redesign of this blog, I have looked at other blogs to see what they are doing and what appeals the most to me. Below is a list of my top 5 favourite blogs right now, in no particular order. Some of them may not be new but that isn’t the point.

  8. What ‘is’ coding?

This post is merely an explanation of a point I was trying to make on Twitter last night, but 140 characters just wasn’t enough.

  9. Spice up your FAQ page with jQuery

FAQ pages are fairly common place on websites these days, and quite rightly so, and there are some show/hide and accordion effects that are commonly used to display them. The thing is, I see many sites that use jQuery plug-ins to achieve this, even though the necessary code is relatively lightweight and simple. In short, a plug-in is overkill.

  10. Working with LESS

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few months, you will have heard of LESS, a dynamic stylesheet language. Well, I’ve been using LESS for the past three months on an almost daily basis so I decided to share my experiences so far.
