The future of web design
The web as we all know is constantly moving forward. We’re always finding new and exciting ways to achieve our goals and of course browsers are implementing HTML 5 and CSS 3 modules all the time. So what will be the future of web design?
My guess, from a visual viewpoint is that nothing will appear to have changed. We’ve all become used to rounded corners, gradients and drop shadows and when used properly these things can be really effective. The only major difference I think we’ll see is the way we implement these things and how we define browser support.
Already many of us are using CSS border-radius, gradients and drop shadows in our designs and accepting the fact that certain browsers will not display them. This will become more common as time moves on and browsers update themselves. By the time Internet Explorer 9 comes out it will no doubt be standard practice, or at least I hope so.
So maybe that We 2.0 look isn’t ready to die out just yet. I actually predict that as the staples of this look are becoming easier to implement that they will in fact become more common whilst people get over the excitement of not having to use lots of images.
