Copperfields Guest House is a vegetarian Bed and Breakfast in the quaint little seaside town, Broadstairs. The story behind Copperfields’ success is their attention to detail and personal touch so I figured why should the website be any different.
The design of this site in intentionally simple. I was tempted to add lots of lovely textures to the background however it really wasn’t necessary.
One thing you might notice is that there is no image used for the name of the company. All type is set in Georgia. I actually found during the design of this site that Georgia is a very versatile typeface as you can see by the three main ways it is used on the site: normal, italic and small caps with letter spacing.
I also used a monochromatic colour scheme for this site. By using a well established method of developing a colour scheme I found a variety on tones to add weight and contrast to various parts of the site.
The slideshow on the homepage is created with the jQuery Cycle lite plug-in. Any CSS enhancements are limited to a subtle border radius on the booking and contact buttons. Again, whilst it may be tempting to add spinning and fading elements to the site it wasn’t at all necessary.
